DEVELOPMENTAL YEARS

‘UNDER -12’

FIFA World Football Youth Academy

The youth coach becomes the parent figure besides the teacher. The school and club now run parallel. At this stage, the best coaches should be employed for the young players, idealize their actions and performance. A special teaching method should be used here. At this age, the young player still learn optically. He must not see his example commit any errors!

He want to play ‘real football’ at the club and marked pitches. The coach must now aim a making the young player aware of the pitch, which he can discover and try out now with the ball. .

At this stage, one influences players to aim for performance, and training is more intensive. The number of player is increased to 11, i.e. and entire team is formed. A young player is psychologically spurred on to find and take the right position on this team.

A referee with a thorough knowledge of the Laws is needed now, owing to the competitive character of the game and the Laws that are implemented. This is the suitable opportunity for referring beginners who have been on the referees’ training course. They have the technical competence and can develop their personality by conducting these matches. It would also be appropriate to use assistant referees here.

With a large pitch and the special role he plays in the team, the young player must improve his use of the ball during training. In tactics, the general principles of training (square play, long passes, passing the ball back) must be put across, making the young player discover the pitch as in a game. Improved technique and enhanced physical possibilities will help him here.
